Russian Mothman Article
I found this article from 2002 on the Pravda site. The image doesn’t have anything to do with Mothman, but it is from a Russian movie about what sounds like a Red Riding Hood kind of story. For some reason I got a bit of a mothy vibe.
The Garuda
Andrew Colvin discusses the Garuda a lot in his book Mothman’s Photographer. I came across this image and thought I’d share.
I’ll be on X-Zone Nov. 26
This Wednesday night, November 26, I’ll be on Rob McConnell’s X-Zone podcast. You can find out more here.
Pt. Pleasant Drawing
Very good — and creepy — artwork incorporating aspects of Mothman in Damien Brunk’s drawing Pt. Pleasant’s Curse on Coast to Coast.
News from Andy Colvin
Mothman researcher and author Andy Colvin reports. Among other things, he has news of his visit to Point Pleasant.
Mothman news clippings
I found a webpage full of newspaper articles from the ’60s of Mothman sighitngs and witnesses. Good info, but it’s not the scanned newspaper articles, which would have been aestheitically pleasing, still, a good resource.
Darklore II Is Now Available
Greg Taylor, who runs the awesome site The Daily Grail, published a journal last year of great articles on the occult, the esoteric, the Fortean. Writers like Nick Redfern, Greg, and many others contributed. Fortunately, Greg has just published Volume 2 of Darklore, which include an article on Mothman by me! I am very honored to be in such fantastic company. Volume 2 contains articles by Nick Redfern, Theo Paijmans, Taylor, Jon Downes, and many more.
You can find Darklore Vol 2 on Amazon.com as well as The Daily Grail site.
Andy Colvin’s Mothman Group
Author Andy Colvin (Mothman’s Photographer II, etc.) has a Yahoo forum about Mothman. You can visit it here. (thanks to nessiesearcher who just joined my mothman group Mibs and Mothman for the info; I hadn’t realized Andy had a group.)
By the way, if you haven’t read Mothman’s Photographer II, try to do so! It’s a fantastic book.
New Blog Look
It’s the same blog, just a new theme. I was playing around with Wordpress, which I still don’t like that much; for one thing, I can’t seem to download or use the template thingie — it all seems too complicated. And I’m a mite ticked because I pay for this through my Yahoo account.
Anyway, I didn’t mean to switch themes; I had thought I was just looking at different templates, when, poof! there it was. I can switch it back easy enough, but I think I’ll how I like this.
Mothman Message Group
There’s a good Mothman group on Yahoo called Mothman Lives. I don’t have anything to do with it, just thought I’d pass it along. A nice thing about the group is that there are people discussing Mothman who live in the area, have had personal experiences, or speak about the experiences family members, friends, community members have had.
It was created by Mothman author Donnie Sergent who wrote Mothman: The Facts Behind the Legend. Here’s a bit from their blurb on the group:
This online community was created, is produced and owned by author Donnie Sergent Jr, with day to day activity ran by Annual Mothman Festival Co-organizer John Frick. Brief information about the author: Point Pleasant, WV resident, Featured on Unsolved Mysteries television show, Creator of MothmanLives.com, Author of Mothman: The Facts Behind the Legend (book and CD-ROM), Co-Founder of the Annual Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant, WV.
