Jet Packs and Winged Humanoids
May 15, 2008 on 5:21 am | In Mothman and Birdman Images |Flying Female Humanoids
Thinking about Mothman and winged beings with human like forms had me going off in a few directions: birdmen, etc. I remembered the story of the winged, flying female that flew over soldiers in Viet Nam during the war, and did a search. I found this very interesting post on the Boy in the Machine blog: Those Damn Flying Humanoids, complete with a great image.
The article references many cases of flying humanoids, going back to the 1800s.
This sighting is particularly intriguing to me:
“Bird People” Early 1950’s Brazil: A couple report seeing what they thought at first were two large “birds”. After the “birds” landed nearby, the couple were able to ascertain that they were actually people with wings, both a male and a female. After realizing they were not alone, the bird-people attempted to conceal themselves. When this failed to work, the two simply flew away.
As you’ll find when you read the article, these kinds of sightings have occurred all over the world.
JET PACKS
Someone left a comment on the blog about “jet packs” as a possible explanation for these sightings. I remember, back in the 1970s, an encounter with a jet pack flying man. We were hanging out in Bronson Park/Caves (Los Angeles, California) and came upon a film crew; they were filming a commercial. Here we were, minding our own business, hiking around, and suddenly there’s a very intense angry man scrabbling through the brush, yelling at us to “get out and keep quiet,” etc. After all, can’t we see they’re filming a TV commercial? We hung around awhile and watched through the bushes while the actor tried to get more than a few inches off the ground in this jet pack thing. It wasn’t very exciting; we got bored and left after a short time.
