Mothman On The Brain
April 13, 2008 on 7:52 am | In Books, dreams | 1 CommentI wrote this a couple of weeks ago, and had planned on posting it at The Orange Orb blog.
Too lazy to read or work on writing, and too late to do anything around the house, I turned on A&E last night and caught the last 20 minutes of Paranormal State. I usually don’t watch that show; I just don’t care for it. Not much substance, although I like the psychic Chip. The episode I caught was the one on Mothman. I found the whole thing irritating, because there was no there there. They had gone to Point Pleasant, interviewed witnesses, and yet, the whole thing seemed empty. Over forty years of research by some very excellent people in the field, and they’re going to step in and discover something new? Feh. Anyway.
Off they go, in the wee hours, to the TNT area where Mothman was first seen so many years ago. Chip, the psychic (who I find credible) sent chills through me. He was affected by what he picked up, which was, he said, something he had never experienced before. It wasn’t spirit, or a ghost, it was “intelligence.” Non-human, intelligence, and when he said that, something went through me; it made sense and I “felt” that it was right. Chip went on to say — and he implied there was more than one Mothman — Mothman wasn’t responible for the Silver Bridge collapse or other misfortunes, he/it/they were trying to warn everyone about it. That goes along with what I’ve read about Mothman. I’m no Mothman expert, not by any means, but I’ve been intrigued by Mothman since almost the beginning, and try to read everything I can on Mothman.
One thing I’m pretty convinced of about Mothman is that there is some combination of both psy-op covert stuff going on, as well as paranormal, or supernatural, events. I think the former is manipulating the latter.
Currently, I’m reading Colvin’s book Mothman’s Photographer II. He talks about a lot of things; one thing he writes about are the bird like and mothman like images he comes across, and the role they play in regards to messages and synchronicities. A couple of weeks ago, after reading that, I passed by a building I pass by a few times a week, and up ahead, I see what looked like the Mothman statue in Point Pleasant! As I drove closer to the thing, I saw that it was a large sculpture of a bird with its wings outstretched. It didn’t make much sense; the sculpture didn’t seem to have anything to do with the business it was in front of.
Last night I had a dream about Mothman. He came to visit me. It was uncomfortable, almost scary, and yet, it wasn’t. He wasn’t scary, or had ill intent, but .. . there was a vague, scary feeling associated with his appearance. He had something to tell me. But, as usual with dreams, I forgot what it was. This wasn’t any earth shattering or even vivid dream, just interesting I have Mothman on the brain so much these days.
“The Gallows Tree” New Mothman Book
April 12, 2008 on 11:25 pm | In Books | No CommentsThe Gallows Tree: A Mothman’s Tale, by Susan A. Sheppard is a new book to me; I hadn’t heard of it before now. Reviews are mixed, it seems. Sheppard grew up in the Pt. Pleasant area, and, according to the blurb on Amazon:
This spectacular event helped shape Sheppard’s imagination and set the tone for her future writings. Between 1966 and 1967, one hundred sightings of the Mothman were reported by local media. By 1968, the Mothman had
disappeared. But his story did not end there. In The Gallows Tree: A Mothman’s Tale, the peaceful landscape of West Virginia is shattered by a being that can only be described as a part-human, part-ghoul - a red-eyed, winged beast. Sheppard re-imagines her tale and builds a world for her Mothman through a cast of characters that includes an alcoholic preacher, ghosts of lynched slaves and a beautiful witch queen ruling over local ghouls.
Mothman Warning?
April 12, 2008 on 7:21 am | In dreams | No CommentsAnother Mothman dream last night that was epic in its intensity. The dream took place over many years, the emotions in the dream were intense. It had special effects like a sci-fi movie.
Very intense dream, which is related below. Then I woke up this morning to find two separate, weird and uncomfortable health issues related to myself and someone else very close to me and came home today from work to find out about someone close to us spent the day in the emergency room.
I realize that writing the dream down and posting it can’t convey the sense or depth of emotional content. And the dream itself, until the end, might not seem like anything. But it was very strange and vivid.
In the dream, my point of view shifted constantly. Sometimes I was “in the audience,” sometimes the male character, sometimes the female.
A dark haired, thin man of 20 or so drives slowly down the street. He’s haunted by something but doesn’t know what. He’s not “bad” but he’s outside the law; outside everything. He’s a lost soul. He drives slowly by a two story house.
All the houses on this street need repair, the poor part of town. The houses are almost empty. People live in the houses, but they are bare of curtains, or flowers, or sounds. He sees a young blond woman, girl really, about 17 maybe 18. They don’t know each other. They look at each other. The communicate telepathically, it’s as if they’ve known each other before. They know each other now, even though they’ve never met.
She runs upstairs, around the house, to the side, and steps out onto the wooden balcony. He meets her down below by driving around the corner. They communicate with their minds once again.
She makes a sudden decision: to leave. Leave for good. She grabs a bag, stuffs some clothing, runs downstairs. Her mother is upset she’s leaving but understands.
The couple travel together for years. They love each other very much. They live, more around a bit, grow older together. All this time they — especially he — are haunted by something. There’s something just barely seen around them all the time, within them. It’s more than one thing. It’s a few different things, or beings, or events. One of them has something to do with aliens. It’s not spoken of but it is known.
After many years, they find themselves in a bad way. This haunted fear, anxiety, knowledge of something known but kept hidden, is too much. They go to the sand, by the water. He kneels down. They do some kind of ritual together to finally exorcise these things. The wind begins to get up, whirls and swirls of sand, he spins around, on his kneed, in anguish. The wind is stronger, whirling up around him, while she stands by feeling and seeing the pain. She has something to do with performing the ritual, guiding it, helping.
The “things” and the Mothman leave his body.
Yet the Mothman is not the cause of these things, the Mothman is not to be feared. The Mothman is neutral, and possibly a friend. A strange friend, cold maybe, distant, but not a force to be afraid of.
Flying around us, them, her, him, me; up and above us. There was a deep sadness with all this, and yet a positive feeling as well A positive feeling that, at last, this “thing” that has been haunting this couple, this man, left for good. And after the pain of it all, the healing.
A Series of Mothman Synchronicities
April 12, 2008 on 12:49 am | In Synchronicity | No CommentsThe following was posted a couple of weeks ago on my Orange Orb blog on blogger. But since I’ve started a Mothman blog/journal, I’ve reposted them here:

Mothman Synchronicity
I’ve mentioned in the last few posts I’m reading Andrew Colvin’s Mothman’s Photographer II, and how, among other things, he talks a lot about synchronicities. Synchronicity in this area of UFO and weird research/studies/explorations isn’t a new concept to anyone who has been involved in this of course. So here’s my little bit of Mothman synchronicity; I had just put a link up over at Women Of Esoterica, about Joan D’Arc’s new book, and then went over to the Paranoia Magazine site, where I haven’t visited in months. And sure enough, the Spring issue has an article on Mothman by Andrew Colvin.

More Mothman Synchronicity
I commented a few days ago about a bit of Mothman synchronicity here. I had a couple of other “Mothman moments” last night. Still reading Colvin’s book (almost finished) I was reminded of Gray Barker’s book Silver Bridge, which I’ve been wanting for years to get a hold of. So I took a break from reading and looked on eBay for the book; there were two on eBay, and four or five on Amazon. The least expensive was $69.00, and all the way up to almost $500.00. Sigh!
I go back to reading, and get to the part about positrons. Interesting on an intuitive level, but my head started to hurt. Not long after, I put the book down, turn on Coast to Coast with Ian Punnett the host, and the guest (animator Neal Adams) was talking about positrons!

Mothy, Stop!
As they say, synchronicities begin to happen and they just keep happening, even though much of the time they don’t mean much. Of course, the fact that they happen at all is enough; a reminder that we don’t live in the tidy little universe where all is well and rational at all times after all. That, and a big dose of humor.
I’ve been having Mothman synchronicities, here’s two more that happened last night: page 333, Colvin mentions Chica Bruce, who has been in my blogging news lately; Lesley wrote a piece on her at WOE, Adam Gorightly has interviewed her recently, and before all that, just a few days ago, I had stumbled upon her somewhere. Then I watched Unexplained last night, a segment on the Philadelphia Experiment and Carlos Allende. A couple hours later, reading Mothman’s Photographer II and right away, there it is on page 362, Carlos Allende.
